About Ma'ruf Dallas

Our Mission

Ma’ruf Dallas is a non-profit Muslim organization that advocates social justice by serving individuals, families, and communities in need. As the nation faces staggering economic and social crises, Ma’ruf Dallas aims to put its faith into action by being a beacon of justice, and a model for human service.

Our Philosophy

Ma’ruf Dallas is an organization aimed at helping humanity in anything that is good on a consistent and respectable manner. We have made great strides in Dallas by working tirelessly to help refugees get settled, educated, and on their feet ready to face the future of their new home.

Approach

Our model is designed to instill habitual volunteering within the communities we work by providing the model and channels needed to steer activists into the realm of humanitarianism. Ma’ruf recruits only the best, most efficient, and highly skilled organizers to lead its projects, developing the most ideal platforms for channeling in volunteers from the greater community.

Activism

To date, Ma’ruf is accredited with building a rich portfolio in humanitarianism from neighborhood cleanups to food, clothing, hygiene drives–from job placement for the unemployed to after school programs for kids who may need extra help.

Administrative Intern

Rashid Ahmad

Over the Summer and into the Fall, Rashid put his efforts into assisting the DFW community in need!

"I think for me what stood out the most from my experience was how almost everything was collaborative. From helping out with the new health screening program, to the food packing, or even loading things off of trucks everything has been done as a team which helps build this greater sense of belonging and community.

My favorite moment has been when I went out to help move a couch from the storage unit to someone's house. The task itself was grueling and it was an especially hot day, but the way in which we all worked together to move this couch to the 2nd story of an apartment building was some of the most fun I have ever had, and this is an experience that I would only be able to find at Ma'ruf.

My feelings towards service have developed in the sense that I see how truly rewarding it can be because I can directly see how it affects someone. Because of the nature of the work it had given me a lot more intrinsic motivation towards service because of the internal reward you feel."

Health Screening Intern

Bilal Rahman

Bilal is a second-year medical student at UT Southwestern from Grand Prairie. This summer, he helped to create a health screening and education program at Ma’ruf, collaborating with our own medical assistants from our job training program to help new refugee arrivals better understand their health and connect to vital healthcare resources in the area.

“I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time at Ma’ruf. Despite the heavy circumstances that most clients face, the staff cultivate a spirit of community, joy, and solidarity that, to me, exemplifies the principle of ihsan. As the health program grows, my hope is that it too can be a source of support, from encouraging healthy choices to connecting clients to doctors and pharmacies to treat chronic conditions. I am deeply grateful to the staff and clients for welcoming me — I have learned so much from them!”
Soyot's dedication to his work and enthusiasm for the organization's mission make him an amazing team member and a cornerstone of the team. He has a deep understanding of the work that Ma'ruf Dallas does and uses his knowledge to develop innovative solutions to challenges that arise. Soyot's ability to connect with people and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike is a testament to his exceptional interpersonal skills. His contributions to the success of Ma'ruf Dallas have been invaluable
